chairman's update
|
In my communication last month, announcing the news that we had finally received planning permission for the construction of four indoor courts, I said that further information regarding any proposed development would be circulated following the Management Committee meeting at the end of January.
I am now in a position to provide more information to you.
It has been some time since detailed information on the clubhouse and indoor court development was circulated so a recap is probably useful for everyone concerned.
The club has planning permission for
• Clubhouse Redevelopment
Planning is approved for the refurbishment of the clubhouse and fitness centre to include
• New men’s and ladies’ changing and shower areas
• Expanded, newly equipped fitness centre (doubling in size)
• New physio/treatment rooms
• New conference / function room and terrace
• New reception area and offices
• Installation / overhaul of plant / mechanical services
• The construction of a four indoor court structure
Planning is approved for a fabric framed indoor court structure to be built on the area where we currently have courts 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17. These existing courts would be replaced by 4 new acrylic surfaced hard courts that would be positioned all in a row at right angles to the current layout
What happens next?
Now that planning permission has been granted, our Finance and Strategic Group can concentrate their efforts on refining the outline business plan that had already been prepared for a combined clubhouse and indoor courts development.
The intention is to present this development proposal to members at a General Meeting sometime in the second quarter of this year.
Communication Process / Member Consultation
Our intention is to have members fully informed about all aspects of the proposed development well in advance of a General Meeting and this will be achieved through
• Q & A sessions with each sub committee
• Q & A sessions with members
• Information, plans and illustrations on view at the club
• Information, plans and illustrations on our website
• Regular email development related updates
As a start to this process, we would like to provide answers to a number of questions that have already been raised. Just click on the link below
for the Questions and Answers.
The intention is that our website will become a useful reference point for members for all of the information regarding the development.
These are some “higher level” questions that have been raised which we felt were most relevant at this stage.
We are also aware of the many more specific questions that members have and it is our intention to try and answer these through future communication
and in the member Q & A forums. (For which we will shortly be setting some dates)
I do hope that this helps to clarify the main aspects of the proposed development. Further, more detailed information will be circulated in due course which we hope will lead to a more informed understanding of the need for this project and how it can benefit all current and future members of the club.
